Needed a couple more C-stands and decided to pick some up at my local Calumet (Boston). They had a few of these Matthews C-stands in stock as well as one of the Calumet brand C-stands. Compared to the Calumet, the Matthews is lighter weight and a smaller diameter for both sections however both the calumet and the matthews flex minimally and can clearly handle most lighting equipment you'd throw on them. This Matthews stand doesn't have a removable base, only rotating, so it doesn't get quite as small for storage as c-stands with "turtle" or removable bases. Overall good quality, although the knobs on it are smaller than my Avenger and Calumet stands. However they aren't so small to be too uncomfortable or anything, just if you need all the leverage you can get for tightening them, then you might want to look at other stands. I have no problems with the stand, and would definitely buy more if it was all that was in stock. Otherwise I'd probably go with the cheaper Calumet brand stands or something along those lines. Great quality, just not sure it's really worth more money than the cheaper c-stands out there.
