The Calumet Quad Plus 2.4GHz Wireless Trigger system will synchronize your Canon DSLR and external flash to allow for manual remote Speedlight or strobe operation up to 500 feet. The kit can also be used as a wireless or wired camera trigger. The Quad Plus enables you to assign your flashes to four groups so that you can either isolate or combine different groups to allow for complex lighting setups. The trigger's four channels can be used so that up to four different photographers can shoot with the Quad Plus in the same location without triggering each other's flashes. The transmitter features a TTL pass-through hot shoe which allows full TTL mode to be used with a camera-mounted flash. The receivers trigger the flashes manually and offer flash wake-up functions on compatible flashes. This system is optimized for use with Canon Speedlites, but can also be used to trigger studio strobes or with Olympus and Sony Cameras as a wireless shutter release.

In my architectural photography business I use multiple speedlights on every shoot. With usually four light units and the camera mounted trigger this becomes an expensive control system with some of the premium brands like Pocket Wizard. Those units are good but very expensive. I shoot all of my speedlights on manual so I can fine tune my light so I don't need TTL triggers. I looked to eBay triggers but quality was not good and performance was spotty. As a Calumet customer I have always been satisfied with the quality and reliability of my purchases. When I saw that Calumet was offering this new line of 2.4 GH triggers I jumped at the chance to purchase them on sale. A trigger and 3 receivers cost me $180.00 plus tax and shipping. So for the price of four units is less than the cost of one PW. (I did not consider the new PW Plus as they do not offer a shoe mount for connecting speedlights). I have used these units on several photo shoots with absolutely no miss fires. I am very happy with the quality and reliability, especially for the price. They are of solid construction but they are not built to be dropped on the floor. Handle with care. These triggers get two thumbs up from me, for my purposes.
Pros: Easy to Use, Lightweight/Portable, Many Useful Features, Good for Experts, Easy Setup, Solid Operation, Ergonomic/Comfortable, Good for Beginners

these things rock

these things rock. they do everything i wanted my other (expensive) brand to do.
i was able to trigger an alien bee from my 5D MK II at 1/200s. i was also able to trigger a remote 430EX1 in manual mode (these aren't TTL triggers) and at the same time have a 550EX on top the camera (in either manual or TTL mode via the TTL pass-thru feature).
both trigger and receiver use AAA batteries so no need to fuss about special batteries.
now if i could just get a lightmeter that would trigger them i'd be all set.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Lightweight/Portable, Many Useful Features, Superior Build Quality, Sturdy/Stable, Easy Setup, Solid Operation, Ergonomic/Comfortable, Good for Beginners
