Calumet Back-Lite Reflector

The unusual shape of this reflector produces an oval light patch creating a natural vignette on the background. Features an 8 x 12" (20 x 30.5cm)elliptical shape with a matte white finish, which produces soft light with gradual fall-off. Calumet light control reflectors feature bayonet-type mounts for quick, positive mounting and removal on Calumet's Series-2 and Traveller Flash Heads. These innovative accessories offer studio and location photographers alike a comprehensive system of tools to handle any lighting situation they are likely to encounter.

I bought two of these background reflectors about 5 years ago, and have used them for most of my seamless paper projects. The biggest problem is what I consider a design flaw, that it will not freely rotate once it is locked onto the flash head, so you have to move the flash head, or light stand to get it to point in the exact direction you want. And if you're in the mood for experimenting with different light patterns and directions on the background, this means you'll be fussing a lot with your lightstand. It would seem like a VERY simple product design to allow for a freely rotating reflector (like a speed ring for soft box), but no such luck. Also had to deal with small amounts of light leaks around the edges, but not a big deal. It's a decent piece of equipment, but would definitely say it's WAY overpriced considering the simplicity of its design.
